Report: Global Game Jam 2014 Depok

Besides Jakarta, region which is in JABODETABEK scope also participates in event showing game developers greatness which holds out together in seven cities. Wanna know the detailed Global Game Jam 2014 Depok event? Below is the report.Day 1: 24 January 2014In Depok, Global Game Jam 2014 event is held out in Code Margonda (Depok Coworking Space) and followed by 17 individual participants formed in three teams. The event should be done on 5 pm but delayed until an hour later to 6 pm because there are a lot of participants trapped in rain and traffic jam. However, this doesnt stop particpants to join in this event together held out in seven Indonesian big cities.This event is opened with speech and house rules from Global Game Jam Depok committee chairman, Oscar Kurniawan (Oz) which is continued with tech-talk session by Wisnu Sanjaya from Independent Studio who has chance to share the story about how to develop games idea also game character made ever since long ago, Miaa and Chika. After the tech talk session is done, the event is continued by keynote video presentation ended with team/group forming.Day 2: 25 January 2014Entering the second day, the participants are still serious to complete their games creation. Drowsiness and fatigue are just ignored in order to create an innovative game. On 6 pm, the participants (although only 50% completed) must give early presentation from their games then continue with game testing between the participants. After game testing is done, the event is closed with having dinner together.Day 3: 26 January 2014On the last day of Global Game Jam 2014 event in Depok, the participants feeling is mixed up since on the last day they need to complete their games and present them. After having lunch together, finally on 1.30 pm these three teams that spend almost 48 hours present their game creation to public. And below are the names and gameplay explanation presented.Candy Bunny SagaThis game is platformer game, where the gamers become a rabbit which wants to take his candies taken from him by an evil lion. This game has leap “leap faith” jump which means players need to press button quickly in order to jump to next platform, there is also zig zag jump mode to get up to higher platform between two cliffs.
